Big Help For Multiplayer Games,
October 28, 2011 S. Bates "swb162" (Naperville, IL) - See all my reviews
This review is from: Battlefield 3: Prima Official Game Guide (Prima Official Game Guides) (Paperback)
I have never been much for buying game guides to help play video games, but I found myself way behind the learning curve on BF3 online multiplayer games. This game guide has been a big help in learning how to play online and all the little nuances that go into character selection, weapons, upgrades and gaining more points. For example, I have been able to improve my point total in games without firing a shot. It also includes sections on coop play and the campaign, but I have not gotten to those parts of BF3 yet. The writing is good and provides short explanations instead of pages of reading to get help. Also, this is a hefty book (349 pages), so I felt like I got my money's worth.
If you are new to the Battlefiled, this is a great help. If you have played previous Battlefield games, this still helps describe aspects from previous versions that have been brought back to BF3 or altered from previous games. I would recommend picking the game guide up, especially for...Read more

Not worth buying for multi-player,

Amazon Verified Purchase(What's this?)
This review is from: Battlefield 3: Prima Official Game Guide (Prima Official Game Guides) (Paperback)
If you bought BF3 for the single player, and you want a good guide to get you through sticky sections of the game, then for the price, this guide is great for you.
However, if you bought BF3 for the multi-player (I've logged >100 hours online, but have not even put the single player disc in my Xbox), then this guide is only useful to have a printed overhead view of the maps.
Weapon stats are identical to what you find in game, and provide no additional insight to weapon stats and behavior. Does not even provide explanations for the various effects accessories have on your weapons, only shows what order they are unlocked.
For the price, though you could do worse for bathroom reading/coffee table fodder.

Hello-
I saw this guide on Amazon, and hadn't heard of Prima before. So being a bit skeptical, I went to my local G$ to check it out in person, and was amazed.
I wanted the guide for basics, as well as all the special tidbits you used to get out of the manual. It had been a bit since I played the BF series, so I wanted to get a refresher as well as learning all the new classes, weapons, vehicles, etc.
Speaking of weapons and vehicles, there are a TON of them in this game, and I was glad to have this guide as a quick reference/night time reading to learn the details of them.
Another review had stated that their wasn't enough information on how to fly jets--clearly, they had only thumbed through the guide, as if they looked a bit deeper, there is a great description and tips page dedicated to flying--the same for tanks.
Point being, if you are looking for anything on BF3, this guide has it--pure and simple.
5/5.
