FINAL FANTASY TACTICS A2: Grimoire of the Rift Official Strategy Guide (Official Strategy Guides (Bradygames))

Once again, Final Fantasy goes tactical. Tactics A2, Grimoire of the Rift is by far one of the biggest Strategy RPGs you can find on a handheld system. With nearly 400 missions you may find yourself wanting some help to get through it all, as well as some of the game's more complex offerings. The strategy guide will more than likely help you out in more than a few situations. Much of the guide is pretty detailed. If you're stuck, this is the guide to get.

It waste no time jumping into most of the basics of the game. While Grimoire of the Rift seems fairly straight forward, this is definitely useful to those still feeling little confused about the games mechanics.

Perhaps one of the more rewarding things about the guide is the breakdown of each race and every single job in the game. I have mixed feelings on this strategy guide.

It has the usual layout of information on the game, explains the classes and their abilities, and gives general advice on game play. It then lists the story line quests, the side quests, and the extras like the auctions and bazaar.

It has a list of every quest in the game, along with an index so you can find the page you need quickly. Each quest shows the map you play on and nicely points out where any traps are. It will also give a list of the enemies you'll face and the level ranges they can appear at.

What I was highly dissapointed in was how little it says about each quest. The vast majority do not give any advice at all on how to beat the quest, which is kind of the point of a strategy guide.

A lot of the information in this guide you can get for free from various sites on the web. If you like screenshots and pictures though or you're the kind of person that just-has-to-have-the-official-guide then this is a well composed and thorough guide. It includes everything important. I would say the most useful portion of the guide is the side mission index that lets you look up the details of specific side missions. It shows you who you're going to fight what the laws for the fight are and a few helpful hints on how to succeed in that mission. You should get this guide if you don't have time to muddle through things and just want to maximize your game time. It also contains the usual things like a walk-through of the main missions and lists of various things like weapons and armor and how to get them.
