Final Fantasy XI Online Official Strategy Guide (Fall 2003 Version)

Comment: It took a little too long to recieve the book but it was worth the wait. It is in excellent condition. No bent pages or any writing in the book. The cover is in excellent conditon, too. I am very happy with the product.

Comment: This guide is a wonderful thing, its especially made for beginners but heres the thing, by the time you've been through this guide at what EVER level, you won't need it and it WILL become a reference. THAT DOES NOT MAKE IT A BAD GUIDE! The thing is, MMO games are EVER EXPANDING and the programmers try to get rid of things like, in game currency sellers, which makes some of the quests change. People have given this guide bad reviews because some quests are innacurrate or different, well THATS BECAUSE OF THE UPDATES MAKE MINOR CHANGES TO DISCOURAGE REAL MONEY TRADE AND IS EXACTLY WHY NO NEW GUIDES HAVE COME OUT, SO STOP COMPLAINING!!!

This guide is invaluable on the quest and mission information it give.
Even though many updates have taken place, this guide will still help you get going very well. But if you want to play this game TALK TO PEOPLE, or you will never advance. Many of the complaints are that this guide only helps up to about levels 30-50. By the time you reach those levels you should have made friends that can help you advance and you should know the learning curve, and if you do not, you should not be playing mmorpg games because you are basically still playing solo. Playing with tons of people is what mmo games are based on. Well except for WoW which is more based on making the individual players ego bigger by playing like a single player game. IF YOU WANT TO BE THE BEST THIS GAME IS NOT FOR YOU! This guide is more about teaching you the basics but its still nice to have a quick reference as opposed to browsing the internet. This guide will not answer EVERY question in the game as more than 3 expansions have been released since the guide came out. But it is a great reference book to have.

Comment: This book is not even in print anymore. There are three expansion packs out now. This book only covers the first one (Rise of the Zilart) and does not cover Chains of Promathia or Treasures of Aht Urghan at all. It is useful to newbs who are trying to find their way around the game, but there is nothing in this book that cannot be found on the internet if you just search for it. There are numerous sites that contain much more useful information (Such as allakhazam) but the problem with them is that the way this game is written, you cannot Alt-tab out of it to view another web page. Once you are in the game, you have to exit it to access any other programs on your pc (I play pc version exclusively....this doesn't apply to PS2 or X-Box players).

Comment: because online games such as these change on a regular basis, this particular book is out of date as a newer version has been issued. also since there is another expansion for teh final fantasy 11 game called Chains of Permathia, another version, probably called fall 2004 will probably be released soon.
