This review is from: Just Cause 2: Prima Official Game Guide (Prima Official Game Guides) (Paperback) Okay, I wanted to wait to write a review of this guide until I had close to 100% completion, in the hopes that this woefully put together, poor excuse for a guide would redeem itself in the item "collections" department. It didn't. First, let me get one general strategy guide comment out of the way straight off: I am a very experienced gamer, and so I never need the mission walkthrough sections of guides because I am more than capable of figuring out what I have to do by myself, and my skills are almost always equal to the task at any difficulty level without having to use the so-called mission walkthroughs. So the truth is, I am not even going to comment on the efficacy of that aspect of the guide, since I never even looked at any of the mission chapters, and seldom ever do. So now you might be scratching your head and wondering why in the hell I buy a strategy guide then, right? Well, the answer is simple. I like to get 100% in games I care enough about, and this is particularly...Read more 9 of 11 people found the following review helpful: By This review is from: Just Cause 2: Prima Official Game Guide (Prima Official Game Guides) (Paperback) I'll try and keep this short, as I don't think this guide deserves taking up too much of my life. The two big things missing from this guide are a sense of cohesion and organization and completeness. Besides that, it's puuuurfect (sarcasm intended, as Ms. Browne is a cat owner).
I realize that the publisher was up against some space constraints. To do a guide that does justice to this awesome game would mean publishing a 1,000 page tome. This is because there are over 450 locations to explore (civilian villages, military bases, ports, etc.) that, believe me, you are going to want to get 100% exploration done in terms of all of the collectibles and destructible targets. So, fine, you cannot devote a couple of pages with pictures and exposition for each location, but at least, build the collectibles and targets section around those locations. What does Ms. Browne and her brilliant editors decide to do? Get this, build the collectibles and targets section around...Read more 9 of 12 people found the following review helpful: By This review is from: Just Cause 2: Prima Official Game Guide (Prima Official Game Guides) (Paperback) I bought this guide to help in organizing my strategies in completing the faction missions, what I found was a book that was rushed to the printer before it was reviewed by an editor. For example under the achievement list there is an Achievement/Trophy named "Bronze", it was suppose to be named "Top of the World" and the trophy was bronze for the PS3. Additionally under the Achievement/Trophy list the "Leaving No Rock Unturned" states Collect 500 resources when the actual number in the game is 1000. The same problem exists for "Faction Benefactor" the book states 100 items when the number is 150, also the "Destroyer" Achievement/Trophy the book states 500 sabotages when the game states 1000. The description for the Achievement/Trophy "Parachute Climber" states "Bronze", what it should have included was how to achieve this Achievement/Trophy. There seems to be some misinformation about the weapons Magazine size and Max Ammo as referenced in the book and to what occurs in the game...Read more |
