This review is from: Metal Gear Solid Peace Walker: Prima Official Essential Guide (Prima Essential Guides) (Spiral-bound) I buy this guide because I love this game a lot. However, I found myself surfing the internet for answers even though I have this book in my hand.
There is a nice walkthrough for the main ops and you could complete the story mission with the help from the guide. However, the guide only gives you answers for some the secrets. This game is deep but the guide is not as detail. For example, the guide does not tell you how to achieve S rank in mission and it does not show you the sequence to unlock all the extra ops. There is also no explanation about battle cries or hints of where all the S rank soliders are. So I would say I am a little disappointed with the content of this guide. 3 of 4 people found the following review helpful: By Apierion (NJ) - See all my reviews This review is from: Metal Gear Solid Peace Walker: Prima Official Essential Guide (Prima Essential Guides) (Spiral-bound) First, a general gripe: I bought this guide because the manual that came with the game was almost totally useless, and I was sure there was stuff going on (particularly the MSF metagame) that I was missing. I was totally right. More and more these days the instruction manual for video games is sadly becoming an optional component. For a game with as much depth as MGS:PW, that's a real problem.
Ok - with that off my chest, I will say that this book is very useful, even if you aren't trying to 'cheat' - ie, use the walkthroughs to beat levels. The basic information on how the game works is invaluable for those who really want to get the most out of this game. Considering the amazon price of this book is lower than most guides, it's a good deal in this respect. The guide was obviously designed to be portable, to kind of go with you wherever your PSP goes. The only problem is, the paper IS very thin and flimsy, and you can shred this book quickly if you're not...Read more |
