This review is from: Sims 2 Box Set: Prima Official Game Guide (Paperback) I should have realized that getting 7 guides for the price of 1 guide meant something had changed. The books are reduced to 4x7 inch black and white photocopies of the original on cheap paper. It does state the size of the package in the details...I guess that means I need to read details more carefully.
If you can read really small type, this set is a great buy. If you only need it for infrequent reference, you'll do fine with a magnifying glass or a squint. If you expect to sit down and have a leisurely read, forget about it. It's not an attractive product like the originals are so most likely, you're not going to want to invest much time actually reading them. I think it's great that Prima released this version which is why I'm giving it 3 stars. It's a good gift for a Sims 2 nut. I'll probably get it for my niece who is away at college since it doesn't take up much room. However, I would be willing to pay twice the retail price for a set of the...Read more 20 of 20 people found the following review helpful: By F Raim (Canada) - See all my reviews This review is from: Sims 2 Box Set: Prima Official Game Guide (Paperback) You will not find better value for such a wealth of information on The Sims 2 and its expansions. But do realize that these books are reduced versions (pocket size, approximately 4 1/4 by 7 inches) of the original Prima guides. Therefore, assuming they kept the same page layout, everything is reduced in size. The lettering is no bigger than what you would see on a bottle of Aspirin. That means you need good eyes, and a well-lit environment to read the books. A magnifying glass could be helpful too. The pictures are all in black and white, but that's no biggie. But don't let these negative points discourage you. If you can deal with the small font used, this is a must buy. 20 of 21 people found the following review helpful: By SIR "suvonne" (New York) - See all my reviews This review is from: Sims 2 Box Set: Prima Official Game Guide (Paperback) While the book dimensions are given on the package, no where does it indicated that they are printed in 6pt type and virtually unreadable without a magnifying glass. The books are not only printed in tiny type but the paper is the very cheapest of ragsheet. Worse purchase I've ever made with Amazon. Suprised they even sell something of such incredibly poor quality. A good idea very poorly executed with little thought of the consumers use of the product (like being able to read it). Don't waste your money on this hunk of junk. |
