I agree with Squ8mata that this does need more detailed information on the adventure packs, need walk thru's for those areas (and release dates for Empire of Ice and Dragon's Peak) I have the crypt pack and will be getting the pirate pack and am hoping there is information in these packs telling you what you use the bonus items for or how to use them. I definitely will want a walk thru for these areas because that is what I found to be the helpful part of this guide.

I tested the game before wrapping it for christmas and every round I did I never got all the stars at the end. I'm aware that I couldnt get all the stars for anything past area 1 since I was only using the 3 initial characters and they can fully unlock all of area 1 but need other elements to unlock elemental spots in the other game areas above area 1. This book has a good overview of each of the characters, a complete walkthrough of the main game, and a decent bestiary. What it lacks are walkthroughs of the add on areas, as well as explanations of what the extra items such as those in the expansion packs actually do. What is present is good, but it is missing enough to be frustrating, and I can not call it complete.

I am a Mom of a 6 year old and Not an avid gamer. I bought the Skylander's game for him for Christmas and we have had a BLAST!! It can be a little challenging through some of the mazes. We have accomplished 16 out of 22 levels in one week on our own before I bought the book, so I wouldn't say it was necessary, but it really was helpful in the UNDEAD areas of the game.. My son would get a little scared there and helped us get through a little quicker. I honestly can't imagine how long it would have taken to get through "The Grand Ballroom" in Level 17 if we hadn't just got the book.. It also helps with knowing which character to use to get through the challenges with Cali. They are still hard to get through for me.. but it helps to know who the best bet to begin with is. It doesn't walk you through any of the heroic challenges.. but I'm actually glad to have an element of not knowing everything..
