Product Review

Darrick Lang is coming home. Years ago he left the town of Bramwell to walk the wide world as a soldier of fortune and champion of the realm. But Bramwell is not as he left it. Something dark and terrifying has ensnared the townsfolk, something very old and very patient, tangling innocents in a web of malice and profaning the very earth itself. Now that same power calls to Darrick and his only hope may be to walk the same perilous path of damnation. Darrick Lang is coming home. Some parts of the book are very well written, and I really found it hard to put down the book. However, the lead character IS kind of irritating, especially the later part when he just goes on and on about his father etc and refused to act. The main baddie is not any one of the Prime Evils. Although this is quite different from the game itself, this book is generally a good read. It has an interesting ending too, which I won't spoil for you. Go read the book!

4.0 out of 5 stars ZZZZ! Oh Hey, July 17, 2002

Basically, this book had everything to do with Diablo, D2, and LOD. Unlike the other reviews I find this book right along the lines of the the Diablo universe. The constant war between Hell and Heaven, and mankind being stuck in between. Most people think Diablo is going to be in these books. If you play the game you know the story behind Diablo's undoing. These books are in the world of Diablo, based on other "mortals" defeating the forces of evil. Now for the plot, it was strung out, and at the end it left you hanging. But I would recommend it, for "hard-core" Diablo players.
I give it a 4 out of 5. This book makes me want to get the 3rd book in series.

2.0 out of 5 stars Has a bit more ambition than most, but it's still not good, June 24, 2009

This really isn't that good, but I do admire the attempt to distinguish this book from others of its genre. Here the hero is conflicted by years of abuse from his father and has basically fallen apart after the death of his only real friend, and the demon who has returned is using the "healing of the sick" scam to gain power . Too bad the quality of the writing doesn't match the creative plot. Clumsy dialogue and less than memorable descriptions keep the reader from becoming enmeshed in the story, and after a short while the hero becomes a whiner instead of someone you'll actually care about. I don't expect much from this type of book, but it should at least be enjoyable. This didn't meet that criterion.
