2.0 out of 5 stars Basic Walk-through, August 7, 2000

This review is from: The Legend of Dragoon: Prima's Official Strategy Guide (Paperback)
This guide is good for a basic walk-through. It tells you where to go and does give some strategy. It makes a poor attempt at locating items. It does give a list before each section, but it is often incomplete. I wouldn't mind minor items, but they should've at least located all weapon upgrades and stardust(in the walk-through, not just in the table of charts in the front of the book). If you do get this guide, watchout for the stradust error. The guide tells you that you can go back for all stardusts at the end of the game. There is one that has to be taken before a certain event. Now in the list it has its location and (before event) but in the stardust section intro it says don't bother looking in that town until after the event. And again in the walk-through it doesn't mention that particular stardust. So beware.

3.0 out of 5 stars Not nearly as pretty as the game, August 6, 2000

This one had the makings of a good guide, or so I thought initially. First the good: The introductory section is VERY strong; you get story as well as gameplay background information, followed by an introduction to each character (accompanied by all of their special equipment and techniques). The item and equipment lists describe adequately the functionality of the game's treasures (though neither is 100% complete). A full-spread map helped me find the specific region I needed to travel to if I had forgotten. And most of the boss strategies were pretty well-written, albeit rigid (i.e., tailored to one specific group of fighters). Finding the 50 Star Dust stones, one of the biggest of the game's secrets, is made easy with a handy detailed checklist. The inclusion of an optional quest list was also a nice one. The not so good: The enemy list in the opening section is next to useless. Not only is it missing a handful of the game's creatures, but you're only told the...Read more

4.0 out of 5 stars All the right stuff, August 1, 2000

This book is a straight-forward approach to strategy guides! Not a lot of info you don't need, but it includes everything you'll be searching for. In particular, I found the "stardust" check list and sub-quest ("optional" quests) menu to be the most helpful. The stardust is the most important item in getting the coolest sub-quest in the game, and I wouldn't have been able to do it without the guide (nor will you, most likely)! The walk-through style makes it easy to find where you're at, although I would have appreciated more individual maps (instead of the one BIG map). Good game... good guide.
