On the whole this is a good survey of topics for the modern minded Web designer and front-end coder, covering various popular topics in Web design. It also has coverage of psychological topics including game design. Although it is by no means exhaustive in any one area, and it is far too short to be comprehensive, it is a respectable anthology.

The narrative is surprisingly stolid in places. The first chapter reads like a college professor lecturing in monotone from a podium 50 feet away: you know there is useful information there, but for some reason the yawns will come anyway. Yet it has an important caution to use timeless styles, which applies to this book as much as to any Web site.

For the list price of $29.90, or less used, it is a good buy for a technical book, even one that is not very technical. Just remember that the styles and techniques will grow dated, as with other technical books. I'd still recommend it as a good value for the price, since the...Read more
