The best part of buying an anthology for me is that I always like something. At this price I know I'll get my value for money if even 3 of them are good.
It's even better when the vast majority are great stories. Each one is starkly different from the last in the best possible way. One minute you are in a barn with dueling magicians, then next you are in a stark in gritty future. From space travel to a shut off island receiving supply by boat.
I really liked Man-maker, (already bought more from the author BC Woods, even though its clearly a departure from the story here) other stand outs were The Star-Eater, Cube, and By a Whisker.
Also I have to mention The Accidental Muse, which had me reading a type of story I normally wouldn't, and really digging it.
All and all a very solid collection!

There were several stories in the anthology that stood out for me:
By a Whisper by Kevin O. McLaughlin was the story of a young man sent to stop a magician from setting free an evil that would not only destroy, but forever torture, an entire community. The main character is charming and engaging and I would love to read more about his adventures. Not to mention the adventures of the cat who helps to...Read more
